The Federal Unemployment Tax Return is completed by the employers who have paid $20,000 or more to their employees within a quarter of a calendar year or have hired a specific number of employees within 20 weeks of the year. The main purpose of the form is to calculate the exact amount of unemployment tax which the business owner has to pay. The IRS form 940 is accompanied by a number of other IRS forms. The employer has to add his personal and business information and file the form with the IRS by the 31st of January, 2017.
